Randy Scott, Ph.D., Chairman,
Chief Executive Officer
Randy Scott, Ph.D. has served as
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer since Genomic Health’s
inception in August 2000. Randy was a founder of Incyte Corporation, a genomic
information company, and served Incyte in various roles, including Chairman of
the Board from August 2000 to December 2001, President from January 1997 to
August 2000, and Chief Scientific Officer from March 1995 to August 2000. Randy
holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Emporia State University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry
from the University of Kansas.
Kim Popovits has served as
President and Chief Operating Officer since February 2002, and as a director
since March 2002. From November 1987 to February 2002, Kim served in various
roles at Genentech, Inc., a biotechnology company, most recently as Senior Vice
President, Marketing and Sales from February 2001 to February 2002, and as Vice
President, Sales from October 1994 to February 2001. Prior to joining Genentech
in November 1987, she served as Division Manager for American Critical Care, a
Division of American Hospital Supply. Kim holds a B.A. in Business from Michigan
State University.
Joffre Baker, Ph.D. has served as
Chief Scientific Officer since December 2000. From March 1997 to October 2000,
Joffre served as Vice President for Research Discovery at Genentech, Inc. From
March 1993 to October 2000, Joffre oversaw Research Discovery at Genentech,
which included the Departments of Cardiovascular Research, Oncology,
Immunology, Endocrinology, and Pathology. From July 1991 to October 1993, he
served as Genentech’s Director of Cardiovascular Research. Prior to joining
Genentech, Joffre was a faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry at the
University of Kansas. He holds a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from the
University of California, San Diego and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the
University of Hawaii.
Steve Shak, M.D. has served as
Chief Medical Officer since December 2000. From July 1996 to October 2000,
Steve served in various roles in Medical Affairs at Genentech, Inc., most
recently as Senior Director and Staff Clinical Scientist. From November 1989 to
July 1996, Steve served as a Director of Discovery Research at Genentech, where
he was responsible for Pulmonary Research, Immunology, and Pathology. Steve led
the clinical team that gained approval for Herceptin®, a targeted biologic
treatment for metastatic breast cancer. He also initiated the cancer clinical
trials of the anti-angiogenesis agent, anti-VEGF (Avastin™). In addition, Steve
discovered Pulmozyme®, a mucus-dissolving enzyme that is approved worldwide for
the treatment of the genetic disease, Cystic Fibrosis. Prior to joining
Genentech, Steve was an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at New
York University School of Medicine. Steve holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Amherst
College and an M.D. from New York University School of Medicine, and completed
his post-doctoral training at University of California, San Francisco.
Brad Cole has served as
Executive Vice President, Operations and Chief Financial Officer since January
2008; as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from July 2004
until December 2007; and has served as Secretary from February 2005. From
December 1997 to May 2004, he served in various positions at Guidant
Corporation, a medical device company, most recently as Vice President, Finance
and Business Development for the Endovascular Solutions Group from January 2001
until May 2004, as Vice President and General Manager of the Vascular Surgery
Business Unit from December 1998 until December 2000 and as Vice President,
Finance and IT Systems of the Cardiac and Vascular Surgery Group from December
1997 until November 1998. From July 1994 to December 1997, Brad was Vice
President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Endovascular Technologies,
Inc., a medical device company acquired by Guidant Corporation. From December
1988 to February 1994, he served as Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial
Officer of Applied Biosystems Incorporated, a life sciences systems company.
Brad holds a B.S. in Business from Biola University and an M.B.A. from San Jose
State University.
David Logan has served as
Senior Vice President, Commercial since December of 2007 and as Vice President
of Sales (Managed Care, Operations and Sales) since 2003. Prior to Genomic
Health, Inc., David served in various roles at Genentech, Inc., most recently
as Vice President of Specialty Therapeutics (Sales and Marketing) in 2002 and
prior to that he held Senior Director, Director and Management positions in
Marketing/Sales, Managed Care, and Sales Operations from 1987 to 2002. Prior to
joining Genentech, David held positions in sales and sales management at Pfizer
Inc. after spending four years in the United States Army. David holds a
bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Alabama.
Tricia Tomlinson has served as
Senior Vice President, Human Resources since November 2007.
Prior to joining Genomic Health, Inc, Tricia served as Vice President of Human
Resources at Azul Systems, a leader in enterprise server appliances, where she
held worldwide responsibility for all human resources functions and
activities. Before joining Azul, Tricia served as Vice President Human
Resources at palmOne. Prior to palmOne Tricia was Vice President Human
Resources for Handspring, Inc. Tricia also served as a senior ranking
officer of the Edify Corporation where she managed all aspects of the worldwide
human resources function. She also held executive human resources
management positions at Xerox Corporation and Synopsys and in the early 80's to
early 90's Tricia worked at Apple Computer where she helped pioneer cutting
edge human resources programs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology
from Pomona College and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development
at Harvard Business School.
Julian Baker has served as a
director of Genomic Health since January 2001. Mr. Baker is a Managing Member
of Baker Bros. Advisors, LLC which he and his brother, Felix Baker, Ph.D.,
founded in 2000. Mr. Baker’s firm manages Baker Brothers Investments, a family
of long-term investment funds for major university endowments and foundations,
which are focused on publicly traded life sciences companies. Mr. Baker’s
career as a fund manager began in 1994 when he co-founded a biotechnology
investing partnership with the Tisch Family, now known as Baker/Tisch
investments. Previously, Mr. Baker was employed from 1988 to 1993 by the
private equity investment arm of Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation. He is
also a director of Incyte Corporation, Neurogen Corporation, Theravance, Inc.
and Trimeris, Inc. Mr. Baker holds an A.B. in Social Studies from Harvard
University.
Brook Byers has served as a
director of Genomic Health since January 2001. Mr. Byers is a general partner
of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a venture capital firm which he joined
in 1977. He was the founding president and chairman of four life-sciences
companies: Hybritech Inc., IDEC Pharmaceuticals Corporation, InSite Vision Inc.
and Ligand Pharmaceuticals Inc. Mr. Byers currently serves as a director of
Five Prime Therapeutics, XDx, Cardio DX, OptiMedica and a number of privately
held technology, healthcare and biotechnology companies. Mr. Byers holds a B.S.
in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an M.B.A.
from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Fred Cohen, M.D., Ph.D. has
served as a director of Genomic Health since April 2002. In 2001, Dr. Cohen
joined TPG Ventures, a venture capital firm, as a Managing Director. Dr. Cohen
is also a Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at the University of
California, San Francisco, where he has taught since July 1988. Dr. Cohen is a
director of Matrix Laboratories Ltd. and a number of privately held companies.
Dr. Cohen holds a B.S. from Yale University, a Ph.D from Oxford University, and
an M.D. from Stanford University.
Samuel Colella has served as a
director of Genomic Health since January 2001. In 1999, Mr. Colella co-founded
Versant Ventures, a healthcare and biotechnology venture capital firm. From
1984 to 1999, Mr. Colella was a general partner of Institutional Venture
Partners, a venture capital firm. Mr. Colella currently serves as a director of
Symyx Technologies, Inc. and a number of privately held technology and
biotechnology companies. Mr. Colella has a B.S. in Business and Engineering from
the University of Pittsburgh and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of
Business.
Randall Livingston has served
as a director of Genomic Health since October 2004. In 2001, Mr. Livingston was
appointed Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer of
Stanford University. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Livingston served as Executive Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of OpenTV Corp., a provider of
interactive television services. From 1996 until 1999, Mr. Livingston served as
a consultant and part-time executive for several Silicon Valley technology
companies. Prior to 1996, Mr. Livingston worked for Heartport, Inc., Taligent,
Apple Computer, Ingres Corporation and McKinsey & Company. Mr. Livingston
holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from
the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Woodrow Myers, M.D., M.B.A. has
served director of Genomic Health since April 2006. Dr. Myers is a managing Director at Myers Ventures LLC. Dr. Myers is a director at
Stanford University Hospital and visiting adjunct professor of medicine at the
UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Myers has served as the former executive vice president and chief
medical officer of WellPoint, Inc., where he established the Health Quality
Assurance Division. Prior to his position at WellPoint, Dr. Myers served as the
director of health care management at the Ford Motor Company where he initiated
quality assurance metrics for Ford healthcare vendors and established new
global health and safety policies to benefit Ford and its employees. He is a
former health commissioner for the city of New York and the state of Indiana,
past chairman of the Visiting Committee for the Harvard School of Public Health
and has served as a member of the Harvard University Board of Overseers and the
Stanford University Board of Trustees. Dr. Myers holds medical and business
degrees from Harvard and Stanford, respectively.
