Cracking the Cancer Code – European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) Introduces First Personalized Medicine Awareness Month to Advocate for Better Access to Molecular Testing for Patients

According to the ECPC, Europe’s largest umbrella cancer patient organization, too many patients in Europe do not have access to personalized treatment options. Whether from lack of patient awareness and education or access challenges such as limited availability, high cost, or lack of reimbursement, ECPC is addressing this issue by promoting Personalized Medicine Awareness Month: Cracking the Cancer Code in November.

During this month, ECPC member organizations called for:

  • Increased access and decreased waiting times for high quality molecular testing;
  • More information to educate and empower patients and caregivers about the potential and availability of molecular testing;
  • A harmonized and more efficient regulatory framework across Europe for increasing access and potentially reducing the cost of molecular testing

ECPC members and partners offered a comprehensive digital campaign toolkit featuring patient case studies, social media materials, and sample letters and press releases in 11 different languages geared to helping patient groups promote the campaign in their individual countries.

Genomic Health is proud to help support this important campaign, helping to empower patients get the personalized medicine they deserve for their cancer treatment.
